Welcome from Director

Welcome to George Mason University and to the Office of International Programs and Services!  Since its founding in 1972, Mason has been host and home to thousands of students, researchers, and faculty members from around the world.  We are delighted that you are joining this group of distinguished students, alumni, and scholars, and we hope that your time here will prove intellectually challenging, culturally enriching, and personally enjoyable to you, whether you stay for only a few weeks or for several years.

In the past thirty-five years, George Mason University has grown into a world class institution of higher education, home to an internationally acclaimed faculty and highly competitive student body.  In addition to the outstanding academic programs, the University offers hundreds of opportunities for you to grow and learn, from our vibrant Center for the Arts to our winning athletic programs.  Join these activities, and become an active participant in campus life!

You, and the many international visitors who study and teach here, are transforming the University into the world-renowned center of learning that it has become.  Your experiences and perspectives are internationalizing our campus and strengthening our community;  in turn, you have the chance to deepen your own understanding by becoming a full participant in every aspect of life here at Mason.  Do not miss that chance!

In the Office of International Programs and Services, we want to be a part of your success here at Mason. I invite you to explore the OIPS web site to learn more about our staff and services.  You will find that we do much more than assist you with regulatory and visa matters; in fact, our advising services and our social and cultural programming can provide you with the support you need to achieve academic and personal success.  We hope you will visit us often, let us know how we can help you, and find the support you need to make your time here productive and fun.  Welcome!

Warmly,

Judith A. Green
Director
