This LLC is intended for students from all majors that are interested in adding an international aspect to their university experience. Domestic students and international students are paired as roommates in Hampton Roads and participate in programming that revolves around cross-cultural interaction and leadership development. Sample programs include bi-weekly discussions with faculty on world news items, international service projects, campus outreach, cultural celebrations, and professional development workshops. The Faculty, Peer, and Resident Advisors introduce participants to Mason's diversity by exposing them to a range of campus resources and engaging them in collaborative projects with other departments. Members of the community are required to take a 1-credit course in the fall and spring and enroll in the Global Proficiency Certificate program.
This course is designed to help students develop cross-cultural awareness through experiential learning methods. Participants will engage in discussion and activities that integrate world perspectives and personal reflection. Students will learn about international resources and opportunities on campus and consider ways to contribute to Mason’s diversity. This course also focuses on helping students refine their academic and career goals as they become global leaders.
